
SELAYANG, Aug 19 — The 22nd SUKMA women’s football gold went to Selangor after it beat Sabah 2-0 at MPS Stadium here tonight.
Both teams were on the offensive from the start, but Selangor dominated the game with confident strikes.
Around 5,000 home supporters roared in jubilation with striker Tegen Su Yin Butler’s goal in the 42nd minute, after a defence error from Sabah let Thivashini Sivakumar steal the ball and volley it to Su Yin.
The one-goal advantage lasted till the end of the first half.
Sabah, fortified with several national players, didn’t back down and attacked Selangor’s defences in the second half, but the home team stayed calm and returned attacks to multiply their goals.
The home team’s efforts bore fruit once again when Su Yin calmly netted Selangor’s second goal in the 67th minute.
