SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — Selangor judoka Muhammad Ashraf Md Khairuldin presented the host contingent with a gold medal after winning the men’s judo under-81kg category at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2026 at IDCC Shah Alam today.
Ashraf defeated Terengganu’s Muhammad Amsyar Azizi via ippon during the golden score period to clinch the title.
The victory added to Selangor’s gold medal tally in judo after the host contingent also won gold in the women’s under-44kg category yesterday.
In the men’s under-66kg category, Selangor’s Cebastian Chee Zhen Yi won bronze after defeating Pahang’s Ammar Haziq via ippon.
Cebastian had earlier advanced to the repechage round, where he seized the opportunity to secure another medal for Selangor.
Yesterday, Selangor women’s judoka Nur Sufia Arisha Mohamed Rasidi opened the state’s gold medal account in judo after winning the under-44kg category.
Ashraf and Cebastian’s achievements today continued Selangor’s positive momentum in judo as the squad seeks to contribute more medals to the host contingent at SUKMA 2026.
