SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line will begin charging passengers fares starting tomorrow, following the end of a six-week period of free travel.
Rapid KL said the introduction of paid services would also include fares for feeder bus services and the Park N' Ride facilities along the route.
“This marks a new phase in the operation of the Shah Alam Line LRT after the six-week free travel period received a positive response from the public,” it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Rapid KL also advised passengers to prepare before travelling, including ensuring their chosen payment method has sufficient funds.
“For card users, passengers should ensure that their card balance is at least RM5. Passengers can also check the Shah Alam Line fare rates via the official MyRapid website or obtain fare information at stations before starting their journey,” it said.
Similarly, eligible groups can use concessionary fares through the MyRapid Concession Card.
“Eligible categories for the MyRapid Concession Card include students, senior citizens, and disabled persons. Those who qualify can use their respective concession cards to enjoy the prescribed fare rates,” Rapid KL said.
It also encouraged the public to continue using the LRT3 Shah Alam Line and make public transport an option for easier, safer, and smoother daily journeys.
“Further information and the latest updates can be obtained through the official MyRapid website, the PULSE app, and Rapid KL’s official social media channels,” Rapid KL said.
On July 31, Rapid KL extended the free LRT3 Shah Alam Line service until August 14, giving more users the opportunity to enjoy the service while familiarising themselves with the new transport system connecting Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang.
