SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — Selangor is looking to consolidate Worldwide Holdings Bhd and KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) to boost waste management, including collection, disposal, waste-to-energy (WTE), and landfill operations, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
“We have started several steps and are assessing corporate negotiations between both entities.
“Their business values are significant, and, naturally, each party wants to maintain its respective position.
“Worldwide’s operations extend beyond Selangor, including to Johor, while its involvement in the Bukit Payung project after winning the KPKT (Housing and Local Government Ministry) tender would strengthen the state’s waste management capabilities,” he said during the question-and-answer session at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Amirudin was replying to Permatang assemblyman Nurul Syazwani Noh’s question about updates on the NINE app.
He said the state government will integrate NINE and SELangkah into a “super app” that houses services such as parking and various state government initiatives, adding that the integration builds on discussions between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, which oversees NINE, and Selgate Corporation Sdn Bhd, which operates SELangkah.
He however said the effort would take time, and that the administration is looking to keep transition costs manageable.
On Monday, state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah told the assembly that SELangkah’s digital health services would be integrated into the NINE ecosystem while SELangkah continues to expand its offerings.
NINE was developed in 2025 at a one-time cost of RM1.03 million, funded by WFP Fintech Holdings Nine Bhd, without state government allocations.
The app was designed as a “single digital window” for state government and strategic partner services, while SELangkah has been in use since 2020 and was expanded from its initial COVID-19 tracing functions to services including digital healthcare and BINGKAS payouts.
