SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — Services under the state’s health and welfare-focused SELangkah mobile app will be integrated into the new NINE super app, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly heard today.
State executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah said the integration was discussed at several meetings between the app owners; Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, which oversees NINE; and Selgate Corporation Sdn Bhd.
“To strengthen the state’s digital system, MBI and Selgate have held discussions to explore strategic synergies between the NINE and Selangkah applications.
“Among the areas identified is the integration of SELangkah’s digital health services into the NINE ecosystem through a micro-services approach, while leveraging e-wallet and financial technology capabilities to enhance the SELangkah user experience.
“This approach aims to complement the functions of both apps based on their respective strengths, while improving the convenience, efficiency and delivery of digital services to the people,” he told the assembly here today.
He was responding to questions by Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei on the differences between the SELangkah and NINE apps, the cost of building the NINE app, and the state’s digitalisation efforts.
Fahmi said while SELangkah services will be integrated into NINE, the former will continue to be expanded, including with the integration of welfare and public well-being services.
NINE, meanwhile, was developed as an integrated digital platform, or a “single digital window”, which houses various services provided by the state government and its strategic partners, he added.
“This is to facilitate public access to digital services,” he said.
He added that the NINE app cost about RM1.03 million to build, covering app development, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design, back-end infrastructure development, system integration, and technical implementation.
The cost was fully borne by MBI’s strategic partner and did not involve any allocation from the state government, Fahmi noted.
