CYBERJAYA, June 8 — The state government plans to consolidate its existing digital platforms into a single super app, NINE, integrating a range of public services, including assessment tax, land tax, and parking payments for greater convenience.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said mobile apps have become an essential part of daily life, with many organisations, including banks and insurance providers, operating multiple apps to serve different functions.

However, the proliferation of apps can often create confusion for users, highlighting the need for a more streamlined and integrated digital experience.

"We understand that at the Selangor level, there are currently various applications in use, including systems developed by individual local authorities.

"Therefore, we hope to reduce the number of applications and gradually consolidate them. However, this process will require a transition period and cannot be implemented comprehensively within a short timeframe," he said in a recent interview with Media Selangor.

Ng added that the state government aims to develop NINE into a comprehensive super app once the integration process is completed.

The platform will not only consolidate payment services from various government agencies but also expand to facilitate access to a range of state welfare programmes and initiatives.

“The state government plans to digitise various welfare programmes in stages, allowing assistance and benefits to be delivered and managed through the NINE platform,” he said.

NINE has already been launched and is currently operational, offering a range of services to users, and will continue to be enhanced and expanded based on the public needs.

However, no specific timeline has been set for the completion of its full development.

Ng noted that several existing apps, including SELangkah and Smart Selangor Parking, are expected to be integrated into NINE in the future.

Additionally, new initiatives and state welfare assistance, including the RM30 public transport subsidy, will also be channelled and managed through the app.

Previously, the Selangor State Secretary’s Office announced that the public transport subsidy programme under the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package opened for applications on June 1.

Under the programme, eligible Selangor residents can apply for and receive a RM30 monthly transport subsidy for six months via the NINE app.
