SHAH ALAM, Aug 7 — The state government has pledged that "no district will be left behind" under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), expanding its commitment to ensure balanced development across every part of the state.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the principle builds on the "no one will be left behind" approach introduced in 2018 to narrow income disparities among individuals and households.
“One of the foundations of development based on the principle of social justice is narrowing gaps, both in terms of income disparities among individuals and households, as well as disparities between localities and districts.
“This formed the basis of the phrase ‘no one will be left behind’, which I have championed since 2018. In RS-2, we intend to expand this principle so that ‘no district will be left behind’,” he said when tabling RS-2 during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
The aspiration makes up part of RS-2’s “Mission Two: Balanced Development and Equitable Opportunities Across Districts”, which comprises three flagship programmes and seven initiatives.
Amirudin added that the initiatives include accelerating the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) project to integrate agriculture and eco-tourism, supported by programmes such as the Selangor Biosphere Reserve, the Sekinchan Seafood Landing Centre, and the Air Manis Rest and Recreation (R&R) area to boost northern Selangor’s economy.
In southern Selangor, the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS) will leverage the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to attract sustainable investments through projects including Sepang Gold Coast Village, Amverton Cove Eco-Integrated, the Integrated Life Sciences AgTech Hub, and the NCT Smart Industrial Park.
Meanwhile, the Selangor Maritime Gateway Economic Development Zone (ZPE-SMG) along the Sungai Klang corridor will continue to be developed, including a project in Kampung Sungai Fajar and affordable housing initiatives.
"The state will also continue collaborating with the Transport Ministry on the proposed Pulau Carey Third Port, with preliminary planning covering its concept, implementation approach, and long-term direction,” he said.
