SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — The State Secretariat has invited the public to gather at Taman Tasik Milenium in Kuala Kubu Bharu on Sunday for the Selangor Orang Asli Cultural Festival, held in conjunction with International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
In a statement, the secretariat said the event, to be held from 6.30am to 6pm features various cultural and sports activities for the whole family.
It added that the launch will be officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and esteemed guests.
Among segments prepared for the day are a Fun Walk and Fun Run, children’s colouring contest, cultural performances, and a singing competition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy various telematch events like tug-of-war, blowpiping, congkak, batu seremban, coconut bowling, and galah panjang.
The secretariat added that the festival will feature exhibits, demonstrations, handicraft booths made by members of the Orang Asli community, a lucky draw and a prize-giving ceremony.
According to the statement, the festival aims to feature the heritage and cultures of Orang Asli peoples in Selangor and bring the entire community of various backgrounds together.
The State Secretariat invited everyone to make the event merrier and support efforts to preserve Orang Asli culture.
