SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — A fire broke out at a plastic recycling factory in the Mahkota Beranang industrial area here early this morning, destroying about 50 per cent of the premises.
According to Harian Metro, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Ashbar said his team received an emergency call at 5.18 am.
Ashrul added that the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) personnel were deployed and arrived at the location five minutes later.
"The fire destroyed 50 per cent of the building and no casualties were reported.
"The fire was successfully controlled at 6.46 am and extinguishing work is still underway," he said.
Ashrul said the fire involved industrial waste and plastic, causing the extinguishing operation to take more than four hours due to the piles of industrial waste that were piled up in addition to the plastic waste emitting gas.
"The operation involved 30 personnel from BBP Semenyih with assistance from BBP Bangi, BBP Kajang and BBP Nilai," he said.
