KAJANG, July 29 — The Kajang Smart City Command Centre (KS2C) is expected to significantly improve emergency response times across the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) administrative area by integrating multiple urban monitoring systems into a single control centre.
Selangor state secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the RM1.56 million project consolidates various data sources, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) feeds, to enable real-time monitoring of the city.
He said the integrated system allows authorities to obtain visual information more quickly, enabling faster and more effective responses to emergencies.
"The key advantage is response time. We can obtain visual information much faster and respond more quickly. There are many other uses, but strategically it strengthens public safety, including flood management in Hulu Langat," he said after officiating the KS2C at Menara MPKj yesterday.
Ahmad Fadzli said the command centre also facilitates coordination among relevant agencies through data sharing, helping authorities respond more effectively to emergencies such as accidents, floods and security incidents.
He added that data collected through the system could also be used to analyse traffic patterns and public movement in the future.
"For example, if we want to know how many people travel to Hulu Langat or Kajang during weekends, the data can be analysed and put to good use," he said.
He said the KS2C would continue to be expanded in line with operational needs and technological advancements to ensure the system remains relevant in the future.
Meanwhile, MPKj president Nazli Md Taib said the council would establish strategic partnerships with relevant agencies to strengthen monitoring and emergency response.
"At the initial stage, we will work closely with agencies in Hulu Langat, including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), the Public Works Department (JKR), the Fire and Rescue Department and others.
"Through the KS2C, these agencies will collaborate by using both our data and their own for integrated monitoring," he said.
Nazli said the integrated system would enhance service delivery by providing authorities with more comprehensive access to information, enabling faster and better-informed decision-making.
