SHAH ALAM, July 28 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) collected RM70.38 million in assessment taxes as of June 30, achieving 96.72 per cent of its RM72.76 million target for the first half of this year.

Its president, Shahman Jalaludin, was quoted by The Star as saying that the council also recovered RM6.95 million in outstanding assessment tax arrears during the same period, out of a total of RM11.5 million.

He added that 78.09 per cent of assessment tax payments were made through digital channels, with RM35.56 million paid online via the MyMPS portal.

"Starting this year, MPS has also introduced the delivery of assessment tax bills via WhatsApp as part of efforts to expand its digital services.

"As of June, a total of 97,463 accounts had received their assessment tax bills electronically.

"Property owners who have yet to update their contact information are urged to do so to facilitate the smoother delivery of assessment tax bills digitally," he was quoted as saying.

The public can update their contact details through the digitalbil.mps.gov.my portal to receive assessment tax bills electronically.

Meanwhile, Shahman said MPS issued 36,701 seizure warrants in the first half of 2026 against property owners with assessment tax arrears exceeding RM200.
