Police arrest mosque donations thief in Sg Buloh

SHAH ALAM, July 26 — Quick action by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) led to the arrest of a man yesterday, suspected of stealing money from Masjid Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh (MBBSB) donation boxes.

MBBSB manager Muhammad Faaez Khesim said police arrived within minutes and apprehended the suspect.

“The mosque worked together with police because we have been targeting this suspect for a long time as he has repeatedly committed the same offence. At MBBSB alone, we detected him stealing money from the donation boxes along the corridor on three occasions.

“We had already identified the suspect’s vehicle. The first time he entered, he broke open the donation box and damaged it.

“Now only one donation box remains because it is quite heavy for us to move it into the locked prayer hall,” he said, as reported by Harian Metro.

Faaez said the suspect used a wire to fish out cash from the boxes, and is believed to have stolen the money between 12.30am and 3am.

He added that the same man is suspected of stealing donations twice in early July.

“After he broke in twice, we coordinated with the Sungai Buloh police station. The first and second break-ins happened only a few days apart, then he disappeared for about a week.

“We were informed that he had stolen from other mosques in that week, but when we spotted suspicious movements the third time, I immediately contacted police and informed the officer in charge,” Faeez said.
