SHAH ALAM, July 24 — People in states led by Pakatan Harapan, like Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, thrive under the coalition’s principles that are based on the people’s trust, said Harapan election director Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
In a statement today, he said the bloc has proven it is driven by values, morals, and a purpose to uplift the people so the country can prosper, adding that Harapan will hold fast to its core of unity in line with the Rukun Negara.
“If other quarters that have run out of ideas want to haunt the people with a political rhetoric of ‘unifying the ummah’, Pakatan Harapan’s purpose is based on the people’s unity in line with the Rukun Negara (to build) a more prosperous, harmonious and stable future for Malaysia by developing a confident people that can succeed,” the Selangor menteri besar added.
“If it’s true that ‘unifying the ummah’ would solve all of the people’s problems and drive the economy, people in Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis should be way more comfortable and earn higher incomes than residents in Tokyo, Dubai and Doha.
“People in those states (end up) choosing to seek jobs and comfortable lives in states like Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Penang,” he said.
He also highlighted how vulnerable communities in Harapan-led states are cared for.
“Disadvantaged groups are given financial aid to (overcome) cost-of-living (challenges), Islam flourishes alongside other religions being practised peacefully.
“The younger generation receives education opportunities and quality jobs, families enjoy affordable homes, and senior citizens are supported for their contributions to the state and country,” Amirudin said.
State elections in 2023 saw Perikatan Nasional (PN) hauling all 32 state seats in Terengganu, 44 of 45 seats in Kelantan, 33 of 36 seats in Kedah, and 14 of 15 seats in Perlis.
