RM1m project ends Rawang riverbank erosion woes

SHAH ALAM, July 23 — A long-standing riverbank erosion issue along Sungai Rawang that had worried residents of Kampung Dato’ Lee Kim Sai has been resolved following the completion of repair and reinforcement works.

Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said the project, carried out by the Gombak district office of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), involved strengthening and stabilising the riverbank using steel sheet piles and capping beams to improve safety in the area.

According to Chua, the project was funded through a RM1 million allocation from JPS headquarters.

“Emergency repair and reinforcement works along Sungai Rawang at Jalan LKS 9 have now been completed in full.

“This project involved riverbank strengthening and stabilisation works to address erosion and enhance safety in the area,” he said in a Facebook post.
