SHAH ALAM, July 21 — The Kita Selangor Penyayang initiative isn’t just to upgrade facilities, but solves various infrastructure demands in each state constituency, and elected representatives hope its scope can be expanded to fulfil more community needs.

Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said her office plans to execute five projects with Kita Selangor Penyayang funds this year, with a focus on upgrading public parks and playgrounds, and providing more sports facilities.

She said these projects were chosen as they would benefit all segments of society, encourage healthy living, and are free to use.

“Many recreational and sports facilities now require payment, so we want to provide more free facilities so the people have space for sports and leisure,” she said after the Kita Selangor Penyayang engagement session at Hotel Mardhiyyah here today.

She also hopes the state government considers allowing the funds to be used to pave roads around low-cost apartments, as residents cannot bear such high upgrade costs.

Meanwhile, Taman Medan state constituency coordinator Halimey Abu Bakar said Kita Selangor Penyayang allocations have greatly helped with upgrading facilities in area primary schools over the past three years, with five roof, floor, stage and other facility repairs completed.

“This year, we will continue repairs in several religious schools and surau. These allocations are very helpful because many infrastructure needs can be resolved quickly.

“I hope next year’s allocation is increased so more schools and education centres can benefit,” he added.

Kita Selangor Penyayang, launched in 2022, is a Selangor government initiative that focuses on physical infrastructure development and involves cooperation between agencies and all 56 state constituencies.

On June 19, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM14 million allocation to strengthen public facility development under the initiative.
