SHAH ALAM, July 21 — The 1 Utama Shopping Centre has recorded an increase in visitor numbers since the opening of the Shah Alam Line (LRT3) last month.
Its management said foot traffic has increased, particularly during weekends, following the launch of the new rail line, which directly connects commuters to Bandar Utama Station to the shopping centre.
"At the moment, we are not yet able to confirm any specific data or insights regarding this.
However, we believe that the increase in foot traffic has the potential to positively impact our tenants.
"The direct LRT3 connection has made the shopping mall more accessible to visitors from various parts of Selangor, including Klang, where travelling to Bandar Utama now takes about an hour," the management told Media Selangor in a statement.
The Shah Alam Line, which began operations on June 29, links Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya with Johan Setia in Klang, providing improved public transport connectivity across western Selangor and easing access to major residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
The connection also forms part of the state government's efforts to encourage greater public transport usage and reduce road congestion.
To further encourage LRT3 users to visit the mall, 1 Utama is offering commuters who arrive via the rail service a discounted ONECARD membership, together with additional shopping vouchers that are available until July 31.
Looking ahead, it expects visitor numbers to continue growing as more commuters become familiar with the new rail service.
"Several upcoming promotional campaigns are being planned to benefit all visitors, including those travelling via the LRT3," said the management.
