SHAH ALAM, July 17 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) issued eight compounds after inspecting 126 commercial premises during an Environmental Enforcement Operation in Taman Sri Batu Caves 1, 2 and 3, Batu Caves, on July 14.
The operation, carried out by the Solid Waste Management and Health Department (JPSPK), aimed to ensure that all commercial premises provide individual rubbish bins and comply with MPS directives to dispose of waste at designated locations.
In a statement, MPS said it had also closed three rubbish collection centres identified as the source of overflowing waste and illegal industrial waste dumping by irresponsible parties.
“Following the closure, rubbish collection for all commercial premises in the affected areas will be carried out door-to-door by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM),” it said in a Facebook post.
The operation was joined by MPS Solid Waste Management and Health Department director Hairudin Daud.
MPS reminded the public not to dispose of rubbish in public areas or at unauthorised locations.
According to the local authority, individuals who violate the directive may face compounds of up to RM1,000 under the MPS By-Laws on the Collection, Disposal and Management of Refuse 2007.
