SUNGAI BULOH, July 13 — The education system, including private institutions in Selangor, must continue to emphasise national integration in order to nurture a generation that is confident, mutually understanding, and capable of driving the state's economic development in the future.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that education is not merely a means of producing outstanding students, but also the foundation for building a society that appreciates the diversity of races, religions, and cultures.

As various education systems continue to develop alongside one another, they must also place importance on strengthening unity and national integration to ensure society continues to live in harmony.

"Ultimately, with the various education systems progressing side by side, we must also consider the aspects of unity and national integration. These should be given due emphasis.

"The state government wants these values to be integrated into the education system. I am confident that Selangor will become a more advanced state by producing people who are confident in themselves and in the communities around them.

"We should not merely tolerate one another, but truly understand one another; that is the strength we must preserve in Selangor. A spirit of togetherness must be built on trust and mutual understanding so that we can foster a society that is genuinely confident," he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus of Kuen Cheng High School in Bandar Seri Coalfields today.

He added that confidence within a multicultural society is essential to ensuring that Selangor remains Malaysia's leading and competitive economic state.

A society founded on mutual understanding is better prepared to face global challenges. Therefore, education must play a role in instilling the values of mutual respect, humanity, and togetherness from an early age.

The Menteri Besar also assured that the state government would continue to support all streams of education in Selangor, including national schools, vernacular schools, and religious educational institutions, as human capital development is the state's most valuable asset.

"Selangor's greatest resource is its people. We do not possess abundant natural resources such as petroleum or gold, so that is why investment in education is the most important investment to ensure the state remains relevant and continues to be the country's largest contributor to the economy," Amirudin said.

He noted that Selangor's economic achievements can only be sustained if the state continued to produce a highly skilled, competitive workforce capable of thriving in a harmonious multicultural society.

"Education is the foundation for ensuring that Selangor remains relevant, drives the state's development, and maintains its position as the country's largest contributor to the national economy.

"I believe Kuen Cheng High School has the commitment to nurture a generation that will not only bring success to their families but also contribute to the progress of the state, the nation, and the world," Amirudin said.

Earlier, it was announced that Kuen Cheng's Selangor branch is expected to accommodate approximately 3,000 students upon its full completion by 2031, with its first intake targeted for early 2028.

The project has obtained planning permission and building plan approval from the local authority. Construction is being carried out on land donated by Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, while the development costs are being funded through public donations.
