SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Approximately 21,289 members of the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (Tawas) will receive benefits amounting to RM1,500 upon reaching the age of 18, with disbursements beginning in March next year.
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor's (Yawas) chief executive officer Gan Pei Nei said they are the first cohort of Tawas members to receive the benefit since the scheme was introduced in 2008.
The disbursement will be carried out in four phases starting in March 2026, based on recipients’ birth months.
“We will begin in March with four phases of disbursement based on their birth months. We will disburse RM1,500 via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to their bank accounts or e-wallets.
“Based on our latest data, a total of 21,289 of our members are eligible to claim these savings,” she told Media Selangor.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that Tawas' implementation demonstrates the state government’s continued commitment to empowering the younger generation and ensuring that every child in Selangor has a stable start in life.
He added that since its inauguration in 2008, the fund has begun to show results, as children who previously received benefits under the School Entry Assistance Programme (PBMS) upon entering Year One will receive the funds when they reach the age of 18.
