SHAH ALAM, July 6 — Construction of a 200m pedestrian walkway near the Stadium Shah Alam LRT3 station along Persiaran Sukan, Section 13, is progressing well and is expected to be completed today.
The project is part of an immediate response by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) following a site visit by local government and tourism executive councillor Dato’ Ng Suee Lim and Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi after the issue went viral on social media on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, Mohd Najwan, who is also youth, sports and entrepreneurship executive councillor, said the walkway is being built to improve pedestrian access to the Stadium Shah Alam LRT station and surrounding areas.
"The construction of the pedestrian walkway linking the Stadium Shah Alam LRT station to AEON Mall along Persiaran Sukan, Section 13, is progressing well and is expected to be fully completed tomorrow.
"I have also been informed that MBSA will continue construction of the pedestrian walkway along Persiaran Akuatik on Tuesday (tomorrow)," he said.

On July 1, MBSA announced the immediate construction of the pedestrian walkway to address access issues to the Shah Alam LRT3 station.
According to MBSA's Corporate and Public Relations Department, the initiative aims to provide a more comprehensive and comfortable pedestrian network in line with the commencement of LRT3 operations.
MBSA also said it had taken note of public feedback regarding pedestrian facilities at several LRT3 stations, including the Dato' Menteri station, the Stadium Shah Alam station, the Section 7 station and the Kerjaya station, which began operations last Monday.
Earlier, a video showing commuters walking along the road shoulder due to the lack of a safe pedestrian walkway to several LRT3 stations went viral on social media, sparking public concern.
