SHAH ALAM, July 3 — Four individuals have been arrested to assist in investigations into the assault of a car wash worker in Taman Kiara, Kuala Selangor, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Kuala Selangor police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin said police were alerted to the one-minute, 20-second video at 1.30 pm last Wednesday.
"Investigations found that a local man driving a Toyota Hilux allegedly assaulted a worker using a yellow safety cone before punching the victim several times on June 30.
"The incident is believed to have been triggered by the suspect's dissatisfaction with the victim, who was allegedly rude during payment for the car wash service," he said in a statement.
Azaharudin said four individuals were arrested, including the main suspect, the owner of the premises for allegedly employing a foreign worker without a valid work permit, and two Indian nationals for allegedly being in the country without valid travel documents.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon or means, as well as Section 55B and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Members of the public with information on the incident are urged to contact the Kuala Selangor district police headquarters at 03-3289 1222 or the investigating officer, Inspector Khairul Anwar Abd Kadir.
