Two foreigners nabbed after 15km police chase near Subang Airport

SHAH ALAM, July 3 — Two foreign nationals were arrested yesterday for allegedly obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties and dangerous driving following a 15km police chase.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the district police headquarters received a report of a pursuit involving a police patrol vehicle and a Honda Jazz at about 12.16 am on July 2.

He said the chase began at the Subang Airport roundabout towards Sungai Buloh, where the suspect drove aggressively and dangerously before the vehicle was intercepted on Jalan Teknologi in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

"Two suspects, who are foreign men in their 20s, were arrested at the scene, while two others managed to flee.

"Urine test results found one of the suspects tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)," he said in a statement yesterday.

Shamsudin said the suspects have been remanded for two days, while efforts to trace the two other suspects are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties and Section 279 of the Penal Code for dangerous driving.

Shamsudin warned the public against spreading inaccurate information or speculating about the incident on social media.

He urged anyone with information to come forward to the nearest police station or contact the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters operations room at 03-7966 2222.
