MPSepang to set up kiosks for traders at SUKMA venues

SHAH ALAM, July 1 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) will provide business space for traders and hawkers at every venue hosting the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) within its administrative area.

Its president, Dr Ani Ahmad, said six venues in the district will be used for the biennial sporting event.

The venues are BB Salak Tinggi Stadium for football, Cyberjaya for cycling, the National Institute of Valuation (INSPEN) for archery, Universiti Putra Malaysia for athletics, Universiti Tenaga Nasional for silat, and the National Velodrome for track cycling.

"We have five or six venues where we encourage the placement of small kiosks for traders, including food trucks.

"We have also drawn up a strategy. For example, at the stadium, we have estimated the expected crowd size and calculated how many kiosks can be accommodated at the venue.

"This will directly provide traders with an alternative avenue to sustain their businesses," she told Media Selangor.

In February, Dr Ani was appointed deputy head of the Para SUKMA contingent, while Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei was named head of the contingent.

The 22nd SUKMA will be held from August 15 to 24, while the Para SUKMA will take place from September 5 to 10.

A total of 474 events across 37 sports will be contested at 52 venues in nine districts. The Para SUKMA will feature 10 sports and 316 events across the Petaling and Klang districts.

MPSepang president Dr Ani Ahmad says her council will predict the number of visitors at each venue before deciding on the number of kiosks allowed there.
