SHAH ALAM, June 29 — The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) will enhance connectivity around LRT3 stations by constructing pedestrian walkways and installing street lighting to ensure passenger comfort and safety.
Its Mayor Dato' Abdul Hamid Hussain said the measures would be implemented after gathering user feedback during the initial operational period of the LRT3, in collaboration with the service operator.
“The LRT3 was only launched yesterday, so we will first assess feedback from passengers during this trial period. We will assess public needs and work closely with the LRT operator.
“As the local authority, if any issues arise or are reported, we will resolve them. If there are dark areas, we will improve the lighting to prevent passengers from falling into drains or tripping,” he told Media Selangor.
Abdul Hamid added that MBDK will also ensure that station access and safety receive due attention so that the public can use public transport more comfortably.
He noted that parking shortages around the stations are expected to be one of the initial challenges following the opening of the LRT3, and hopes that Rapid Rail will expand its feeder bus services to reduce commuters' dependence on private vehicles.

“We hope this LRT service will make travel easier for residents. Within the MBDK administrative area, there are nine stations stretching from Bandar Baru Klang to Johan Setia. One additional station will be brought into service at a later stage.
“As the local authority, we are committed to ensuring that travel within the district is not disrupted by connectivity issues,” Abdul Hamid said.
Last week, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari instructed all local authorities in Selangor to review public transport connectivity facilities to ensure commuters enjoy journeys that are both comfortable and safe.
He emphasised that the state government is prepared to provide additional funding if required to further improve related facilities.
Starting today, the public can enjoy free travel on the Shah Alam LRT3 line and its feeder bus services for one month in conjunction with the official opening of the new rail line.
The initiative was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the official launch of the Shah Alam LRT3 line at the Johan Setia Depot yesterday.
