SHAH ALAM, June 29 — A total of 40 participants received Malaysian Skills Certificates (SKM) through the Skills Recognition Programme via the Practical Assessment Method 2026 at the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) in Kuala Selangor yesterday.
State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the programme, organised by the Selangor Workers' Empowerment Unit (UPPS) in collaboration with STDC, aims to recognise the skills of experienced workers while strengthening human capital development and enhancing workers' employability in Selangor.
He said recognising existing skills is essential to producing more skilled workers capable of meeting the needs of the country's growing industries.

"Recognising existing skills will help produce more competitive skilled workers who can meet the needs of expanding industries.
"Participants who received the SKM successfully completed practical assessments in six skills areas, namely installation and maintenance, air-conditioning and heating, food preparation and production, light vehicle repair services, single-phase electrical installation and maintenance, spa therapy, and women's garment manufacturing," he said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Papparaidu expressed his appreciation to UPPS, STDC and all parties involved in making the programme a success, and hoped similar initiatives would continue to strengthen human capital development in Selangor.
"Congratulations to all certificate recipients for their commitment and determination to enhance their skills and competitiveness," he said.
He also officiated the closing ceremony and certificate presentation, adding that the certification would serve as a catalyst for better employment opportunities, career advancement and entrepreneurship development among participants.
