SHAH ALAM, June 25 — The monthly RM30 public transport fare subsidy will be disbursed in two phases, with the first one having already kicked off on June 15 and the second to start mid-September.
This is according to a Facebook post, by Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd (RMSB) as the subsidy implementer, on frequently asked questions about the initiative.
RMSB said the first phase will involve Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) services — Rapid On-Demand and Kumpool.
The second phase will involve DRT, KTM Komuter and bus services, but the final list will be announced later.
The fare subsidy, under the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP), will benefit 50,000 recipients for six months until December 2026.
Those interested may submit applications by June 30, with only one application allowed per person.
Eligibility criteria are as follows:
Malaysian
Aged 18 and above
Registered Selangor voter
Own a smartphone
Live in area with access to public transport services
Higher learning students may apply for the subsidy, but secondary and primary school students are not eligible.
RMSB said applications must be submitted on the NINE app and that supporting documents are required for verification, with the subsidy credited into the app’s e-wallet feature throughout the initiative period.
It said unused credits will expire and cannot be carried over to the next month, with the next month’s credits resetting to RM30 every time.
Those who don’t use the subsidy for two straight months may be terminated as recipients and RMSB will select another applicant, it said.
