SHAH ALAM, June 23 — The state govt's revenue collection continues to show encouraging performance, reaching RM1.7 billion against this year’s overall target of RM2.8 billion.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the figure is expected to continue increasing towards the end of the year.
“During the first three months of 2026, we observed a slight slowdown in state revenue collection...we continuously reviewed and monitored the situation. By June, revenue inflows had become more aligned with our targeted projections.
“We are still on track, although there was an initial setback because the beginning of the year coincided with several festive periods, including Thaipusam, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Hari Raya Aidiladha.
"During festive seasons, productivity tends to decline slightly, and we understand that. Nevertheless, we continue to encourage civil servants to perform to the best of their abilities.
“Now that the festive season has passed, our focus is clear; we have already collected RM1.7 billion in revenue. InsyaAllah (God willing), we need to secure another RM1.1 billion to achieve the RM2.8 billion target.
"Based on our projections, we are confident of reaching it by the end of the year,” he said during his winding-up speech on Phase Two of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package during the State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
When tabling the 2026 Selangor Budget in November last year, Amirudin announced that the state government expected to collect RM2.8 billion in revenue for 2026.
One of the main contributors to state revenue is land premiums, which are projected to generate RM1.02 billion, accounting for 36.3 per cent of the overall estimated revenue.
