SHAH ALAM, June 21 — National professional golfer Gavin Green has been appointed to identify and shape new talent through the Selangor Golf Sports development programme, aiming to produce more competitive players at advanced levels.
He received the document during the handover ceremony for the cooperation contract and appointment letter for the Selangor Golf Sports development programme, in conjunction with the closing of the 2026 Selangor Amateur Open Championship at Bukit Beruntung Golf and Country Resort yesterday.
Besides Green, the development collaborations also involve professional players Shariffudin Ariffin and Mohd Amir Nazrin to train young talents and enhance the performance of Selangor golfers.
On the same occasion, the Selangor State Development Corporation’s (PKNS) Golf Management and Services announced the establishment of PKNS Elite Team as a platform to empower the state’s golf talent more comprehensively.
The one-year development will consist of 20 skilled golfers chosen for organised training managed by the Royal Selangor Golf Club. This initiative is implemented through the Selangor State Golf Sports Trust Fund Committee in collaboration with PKNS Golf Management and Services.
The ceremony was officiated by the State Secretary of Selangor Datuk Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.
The programme is expected to be a catalyst in producing more potential golfers capable of achieving glory for Selangor in the future.
