PETALING JAYA, Feb 15 — PKNS Selangor Masters 2026 has emerged as a character-building platform for national golfers to go up against international players, said State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.
He said that through encounters with international players, local golfers gain the opportunity to shape their personalities to become more successful.
“This championship is very competitive, but really our main focus is not on winning or losing, but making it a process of building character and testing oneself’s resilience.
“The state government wants to provide a platform for national players to meet international ones so they are more successful,” he said when met by Media Selangor yesterday.

Singaporean golfer Nicklaus Chiam was crowned overall champion with a birdie in the third playoff against Malaysia’s Khavish Varadan.
Nicklaus ended his run with three strokes under par to overcome Khavish.
Meanwhile, Nicklaus, when met by reporters, said the Malaysian golfer gave him a tight match in the third playoff.
“The competition was challenging and nerve-wracking in the third playoff. Khavish was a great rival but it was my luck when the birdie brought me victory.
“The championship was quite challenging because location and wind were among factors I had to consider throughout the game, but it wasn’t a barrier; instead it was training to do better,” he said.
The 13th edition of the PKNS Selangor Masters was held over four days since Wednesday.
Launched in 2007, this year’s championship offered a cash prize of A$175,000 (over RM685,000).
The prestigious tournament drew 144 pro golfers, involving 80 Asia Development Tour (ADT) players, 40 Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour players, and 24 invitees.
