KLANG, June 19 — The West Asia crisis hasn’t put a damper on the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), this year’s edition of which will be held in October, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said the summit, which has been held since 2015, remains an important platform for the country and international firms to exchange views and share their experiences in various economic sectors.
“I’m confident the response would be encouraging because promotions in neighbouring countries … have started and in two weeks we will go to Bandung, Indonesia.
“Even though that is a sub-programme of SIBS that will be held in October, (the Bandung session) is … for us to promote SIBS.
“For the West Asia crisis, I think it won’t have a big impact, but (SIBS) is a good platform where we can share experiences or anything we think could be important to share with all companies,” he told Media Selangor after accompanying Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah on a Royal patronage visit to IKEA Supply Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Pulau Indah here yesterday.
Ng added that SIBS would give stakeholders a chance to share their views and present their messages directly to companies involved.

For this year’s edition of SIBS, Selangor is aiming to exceed last year’s potential transaction value of RM8.17 billion. In this 10th edition, SIBS will include three new pillars designed specifically to strengthen investment ecosystems in various sectors in the state.
The first pillar is the Selangor Techsphere Summit, organised by the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) and Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, a Deutsche Messe AG subsidiary globally renowned for its focus on technical talent and industrial innovation.
The second pillar is the Selangor AI and Semiconductor Summit organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), while the third is the Selangor International Care Expo led by Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS).
SIBS is a programme by Invest Selangor Bhd that is set to expand its regional footprint with the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN in Bandung on July 9 and 10.
Bandung was chosen based on its economic profile that is similar to Selangor, as the main growth driver of their respective countries.
Fifty local companies, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), will participate in SIBS@ASEAN to explore wider regional economic opportunities.
