SEPANG, June 10 — Sepang leaders and residents have expressed their gratitude to Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah for visiting the district under the Gagasan Rumpun Selangor (GRS) 2.0 tour today.
His Highness’ visit sparked hope among locals that they would see better recreational facilities in Kampung Bagan Lalang and upgrades to the ageing Kampung Jelutong Indah jetty.
Kampung Bagan Lalang secretary Mohd Azmir Yahliman said the recommendation for a recreational site in the village was a long-awaited one as the area doesn’t have sports facilities for youth.
“When we heard RMS (Raja Muda of Selangor) would visit, we applied to develop this place as a recreational area (for a) pickleball court or futsal field. This village doesn’t have an area for youth to play sports.
“When it is developed as a recreational site in the future, we plan to add a night market and such to make the place more lively,” he told Media Selangor.

Meanwhile, Kampung Jelutong Indah village head Muhammad Syafiiq Tahir said His Highness’ visit gave residents the chance to highlight the need to upgrade the local jetty, which is now over 20 years old.
Syafiiq said local fishermen still use the jetty, and it hosts recreational activities and is an alternative route to Negeri Sembilan.
“This is the first time RMS has come. The villagers and I feel grateful for this attention to our village area, especially to the jetty here.
“This jetty was built 20 years ago. After 20 years, it is aged and isn’t safe, so we hope that RMS’ presence would help (lead to its) maintenance and upgrading,” he added.

Earlier, Tengku Amir Shah visited the site for the proposed recreational area in Kampung Bagan Lalang, on which an abandoned guesthouse lies.
His Highness then visited the Kampung Jelutong Indah jetty in Sungai Pelek.
During the visit, state executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said both infrastructure projects would each receive a RM500,000 allocation, with their execution overseen by Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI.
