SHAH ALAM, June 7 — Graduates of Universiti Selangor’s (UNISEL) Faculty of Health Sciences have high employability, with nearly all of them having been hired within six months of completing their studies.
Faculty dean Mohd Sharikh Dali Mahad said 97.6 per cent of graduates gained employment in six months after completing their studies, according to the Higher Education Ministry’s (MOHE) Graduate Tracer Study 2025.
He added that students from critical programmes like physiotherapy, medical imaging and medical laboratory technologies logged an employability rate of 100 per cent.
“The graduates we produce, we can categorise them as high demand. Even before they finish studying, hospitals are asking after would-be graduates,” he told Media Selangor.
According to Sharikh, the faculty’s strength lies in its industry-oriented curriculum that emphasises intensive clinical training in major hospitals from early on.
He added that students are also supported by 17 private hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia, which provide industrial training and full sponsorship for chosen candidates.
“Lessons here aren’t merely theoretical. We emphasise students’ industry experience, clinical skills, and professional development.
“That’s why the industry sees our graduates as having distinct abilities in terms of work discipline, communication, and readiness to serve,” he said.

Sharikh also said UNISEL is improving its learning ecosystem with modern simulations and the latest technologies to ensure students are exposed to real-world scenarios.
“Among the facilities provided are a full 20-bed simulation ward, mammogram, ultrasound, mobile X-ray, real-time PCR, and a comprehensive physiotherapy centre.
“We are also expected to receive a hi-tech MRT and CT scan simulation system this year to strengthen students’ clinical training in line with current developments in medical technology,” he added.
Sharikh explained that UNISEL is undertaking a progressive academic transformation based on AI, digitalisation and holistic student development.
“All UNISEL students are required to join AI-related courses like AI Application, besides several student development courses under the Faculty of Wise Student Development,” he said.
He also explained that UNISEL doesn’t just want to produce academically excellent graduates, but ones who are also high-skilled, have leadership and ethics, and are tech-savvy.
He urged school-leavers nationwide, especially those in Selangor, to further their studies in the health sciences field.
“This year, the state government is offering financing of up to 50 per cent of academic fees for Selangor students furthering their studies at state-owned universities,” Sharikh said.
