SHAH ALAM, May 31 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin yesterday wished Buddhists a Happy Wesak Day.
Sultan Sharafuddin urged the people, no matter race, religion or background, to practise mutual respect, tolerance and harmony that are the foundational strengths of the country.
In a post on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page, the Ruler said our plural society doesn’t comprise divisive differences, but is a treasure that must be defended as Malaysia’s pillar of unity.
“Let us celebrate each festivity with goodwill, mutual understanding, and with appreciation for the peace and stability we still have today.
“Happy Wesak Day to all Buddhists,” Sultan Sharafuddin said in the post.
