GOMBAK, May 23 — The Selangor government is designing various initiatives to strengthen the local batik industry and empower the state’s creative economy, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.
He added that the initiatives include increasing entrepreneur participation and providing new opportunities to more industry players.
“The state government is focusing on entrepreneur development in the creative economy, including the batik industry, in Selangor, to strengthen the ecosystem and ramp up local industry growth.
“We are formulating various efforts and initiatives to involve more entrepreneurs in this industry, and details will be announced soon,” he said when met after the Agrobank x FAMA Agriculture Entrepreneurs’ Special Scheme at the Taman Melawati Farmers’ Market here today.
Najwan explained that the state government is looking to introduce a special AI module for entrepreneurs to more effectively grow their businesses, with the technology set to help traders save on marketing costs and improve promotional strategies for optimal returns.
On November 24, the state government launched the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2025-2035, which serves as a comprehensive guide to empower the creative economy with strategic, inclusive and integrated approaches.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari previously said the plan would prepare Selangor to become a regional creative economy hub that is globally competitive and able to sustainably contribute to economic growth.
The plan covers three main sectors — digital and multimedia, arts and culture, and cultural heritage — to ensure industry growth is in line with Selangor’s identity.
