SHAH ALAM, May 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari led an engagement session with US multinational firms yesterday to discuss strategic collaboration opportunities and the future direction of the state’s economic growth.
The discussion also focused on Selangor’s talent development and the need for investor-friendly policies, he said in a Facebook post following the high-level discussion between the state government and the United States-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC).
A total of 22 US companies operating in Selangor participated in the session, including IBM, Amazon, Apple, Boeing, Micron, Mastercard, Philip Morris, Procter & Gamble, Zuellig Pharma and Cargill.
“Discussions focused on Selangor’s strengths as a premier regional investment destination, particularly in talent development and skilled workforce readiness, sustainable water supply, as well as state policies and investor-friendly approaches that support industrial growth and emerging technologies,” he said in the post yesterday.
US-ABC interim president and CEO Brian D McFeeters, who is also the former US Ambassador to Malaysia, and Malaysia’s chief representative at the council Tina Jamaluddin were also present.

Amirudin said participating companies also shared insights and recommendations on key growth areas, including high-technology industries, artificial intelligence (AI), global supply chain resilience, pharmaceutical development, and digitalisation.
“(They also shared) the need to further strengthen the investment ecosystem to ensure sustainable growth in Selangor.”
The menteri besar said Selangor remains committed to enhancing competitiveness through infrastructure development, technological innovation, efficient governance, and closer public-private collaboration to ensure the state remains a leading economic and technology hub in the region.
“The presence of these global companies reflects the international business community’s continued confidence in Selangor’s stability, capabilities and future as a high-value investment destination,” he added.
