Orang Asli land gazettement in Hulu Selangor to be expedited

SHAH ALAM, May 14 — Land gazettement is underway for 14 Orang Asli villages in Hulu Selangor, aimed at ensuring the communities’ rights and well-being, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.

He announced this at the Hulu Selangor District Orang Asli Land Gazettement Meeting he chaired today at the Hulu Selangor District and Land Office.

According to him, out of the 14 villages, only in five have land surveying works been completed.

“The state government, through the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), will allocate funds to expedite land surveys (in the remaining nine villages),” Papparaidu said in a Facebook statement today, adding that this would facilitate a more efficient, systematic gazettement process.

“I also emphasised (during the meeting) that Orang Asli village land gazettements be expedited to ensure the rights and well-being of the Orang Asli community in Selangor,” he said.

At the same meeting, Papparaidu touched on preparations for Orang Asli Day on August 9 in Kampung Gerachi Jaya, as a show of appreciation for the Orang Asli community.
