AMPANG JAYA, May 11 — Eighty entrepreneurs participated in the Safe Internet Campaign Programme organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at The Campus Ampang today, aimed at increasing awareness of safe Internet usage among business owners.
It was organised in collaboration with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI through the Selangor Platform (PLATS), which brought together entrepreneurs from across Selangor, including Ampang Jaya.
PLATS coordinator Aiman Husaini Zulzakaria said the programme focused on digital safety awareness, particularly in helping entrepreneurs avoid falling victim to online fraud such as scams and phishing.
“This programme involves entrepreneurs from around Selangor, including Ampang Jaya, to raise awareness about safe Internet usage among business owners.
“Its content was also very engaging, including forums on Internet safety and experience-sharing sessions from PLATS entrepreneurs,” he told Media Selangor.
Aiman added that the inaugural programme has the potential to be expanded to several other local authorities to ensure more entrepreneurs gain exposure to digital safety awareness.
Business owners now face not only conventional business risks but also various forms of online fraud that could affect their operations and finances.
“Many entrepreneurs sometimes become victims of fraud, such as scams and phishing. Therefore, programmes like this are important for enhancing awareness and knowledge of digital security.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), the response received has been very encouraging. We will look at the potential of expanding this programme to other locations in the future,” he said.
