SHAH ALAM, May 4 — The workforce is not only the main driver of the nation’s economy but must also embody strong human values to become the pride of the nation, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
Workers are encouraged to continuously enhance their knowledge and master new skills in order to compete in a job market that offers higher incomes.
“Workers are not merely the backbone of economic activity. We must become a Madani society, and this must be supported by workers who possess Madani values; namely strong human values and sincere integrity.
“They must also be individuals who are always willing to change, learn, and improve those values. Thirdly, I mentioned that workers must have compassion, followed by sincerity, which will make us the pride of the nation,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking at the officiating ceremony of the 2026 Selangor State-Level Labour Day Celebration, which was also attended state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman, at the State Secretariat Building today.
He also hopes that the private and public sectors can set aside their differences and work together in facing the ongoing impact of geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Both the Federal and state governments will continue efforts to safeguard all affected sectors and ensure that the challenges of the current economic climate do not burden the people.
“The public and private sectors must stand together to navigate these challenging times. This is not about who will endure or who will not; it is about our collective resilience,” Amirudin said.
