SHAH ALAM, Apr 20 — The Sultan of Selangor has advised the people to practise prudent spending following his concerns over rising oil and gas prices.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj said the conflict in West Asia, which have directly affected the country, have driven up the prices of essential goods and increased the cost of living.
“I take this opportunity to offer sincere advice from my heart to my government and all the people of Selangor.
“I urge all parties to adopt prudent spending in facing the current challenging economic conditions,” His Royal Highness said in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly held at the Selangor State Assembly today.
Also in attendance were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin and Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
The Sultan also decreed that the state government prioritise essential expenditure, particularly assistance to the people to help ease their burden.
He stressed that all forms of wastage must be avoided and that every expenditure must deliver maximum benefit to the people, especially those affected.
“My government must remember that the welfare of the people must always remain the priority in all planning and policy implementation,” he said.
