SHAH ALAM, Apr 16 — Selangor returned to the top after lifting the Piala Emas Khir Johari, defeating Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) 2-0 in the final of the National Sepak Takraw Championship yesterday.

The victory ended a 15-year wait for the state team, with their last triumph in the prestigious tournament coming in 2011 in Kuching, Sarawak.

Team captain Farhan Adam described the win as the result of full commitment from all players, who delivered strong performances throughout the competition.

“All players gave 100 per cent commitment and we proved that Selangor is still a powerhouse in the Emas Khir Johari Cup competition,” he said.

Meanwhile, Selangor’s official sponsor Koridor Utiliti Selangor (KUSEL) said the achievement reflected a collective effort involving players, management and strong fan support.

It said the success demonstrated the strength of Selangor’s sporting ecosystem, which continues to remain competitive at national level.

KUSEL also extended its appreciation to the Selangor Pistons squad and the Selangor Sepak Takraw Association, led by president Datuk Zafry Sulaiman, for the achievement.
