PETALING JAYA, April 7 — The Damansara Avenue pedestrian bridge, which connects the Sri Damansara Sentral Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station to the mixed-use development Damansara Avenue, was opened today.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Dato' Mohamad Zahri Samingon said the 320m elevated bridge aligns with the Petaling Jaya City Council's aspirations to strengthen transit-oriented development.
“Overall, the opening of this connecting bridge is expected to benefit MRT users as well as the local community by providing easier and safer access.
“Infrastructure development with high impact, such as this, is also an important catalyst towards creating a more liveable, efficient, and sustainable city,” he said during the officiation of the bridge's opening ceremony, with Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Pua Pei Ling in attendance.

Zahri added that building the bridge was a complex engineering challenge, as it had to span several major routes, including the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), Jalan Kuala Selangor, and the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) 2.
He emphasised the importance of strategic cooperation between the local authorities and the private sector to ensure the implementation of comprehensive, high-impact infrastructure development.
“This synergy enables the delivery of higher-quality public amenities, thereby enhancing the well-being of city residents,” Zahri said.
The Damansara Avenue pedestrian bridge, a joint initiative with a private developer, cost RM18 million and took 18 months to complete. It provides covered walkways to improve the comfort of public transport users by offering a safe, sheltered environment.
