SHAH ALAM, April 6 — Fifteen premises were found to be non-compliant with regulations under the Environmental Quality Act 1974 during Ops Gempur carried out by the Selangor Environment Department (DOE).
It said the integrated operation was conducted to ensure premises comply with the applicable acts, orders, and regulations.
“Ops Gempur involved seven branches/units as well as 13 enforcement teams from the Selangor DOE. A total of 32 premises were inspected.
“Inspections found that 15 premises failed to comply with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 due to various offences,” the department said in a statement.
Following this, 32 field citations, 29 compounds, 16 directive notices, and 16 investigation papers were issued against the premises involved.
Meanwhile, the Selangor DOE also reminded all parties to always comply with the stipulated environmental laws.
“Non-compliance may result in any party being convicted of an offence and brought before the court,” it said.
Members of the public may channel information related to pollution cases to the DOE via the toll-free line 1-800-88-2727 or the official e-complaints system.
