SHAH ALAM, April 5 — Cloud-seeding operations will start tomorrow to Thursday to increase dam water levels amid the current heat wave, said the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES).
It announced that the operation will be carried out by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) in collaboration with the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said: “The hot weather condition is likely to improve as the country enters the monsoon transition phase, which began on March 29 and is projected to last through May.
“This monsoon shift is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds within a short period, which can ease the hot weather and replenish dams,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, Arthur also said the operation will focus on northern peninsular states and Johor.
NRES advises the public to be cautious amid the unpredictable weather and to seek accurate updates through MetMalaysia’s official channels.
