SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Inisiatif Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE) is now inviting members of the public to propose compelling and beneficial book titles for translation into Bahasa Melayu.
In a Facebook post, IBDE said one of the requirements is that the proposed books must have valid copyright or be in the public domain.
“Another requirement is that the suggested titles must be beneficial and carry high intellectual value.
“Preferred genres include politics, history, literature, philosophy, culture, science and others,” it said.
Those interested can scan the QR code displayed on the poster for a link to the submission form.
Previously, IBDE chief executive officer Farhan Affandi said the organisation had translated works by prominent Islamic figures, including the founders of the four schools of thought, as part of efforts to revive the tradition of kitab-based learning in mosques.
Among the translated works are biographies of the four imams — Shafie, Maliki, Hambali and Hanafi — as well as works on Saidina Ali Abi Talib and al-Hikam by Ibnu ‘Athaillah As-Sakandari.
Farhan said some of these works will also be used in study sessions at this year’s Festival Turath Islami Selangor (FTIS).
IBDE, which receives funding from the Selangor state government, is actively publishing translated books across various genres, including history, philosophy and religion, as well as classical works dating back thousands of years.
Some of IBDE’s publications, produced in collaboration with Media Selangor, are available at Kedai Buku Rencana in Sri Damansara, Petaling Jaya, or online via bukuibde.com.
