SABAK BERNAM, March 12 — The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah presented RM311,500 in Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions to 623 asnaf recipients at the iftar ceremony hosted by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj with the people at Masjid Marzukiah in Lubuk Pusing today.
The contributions involved 223 fakir, 341 miskin, and 59 mualaf, with each recipient receiving RM500 to help ease their financial burden ahead of Aidilfitri.
At the event, His Highness also received RM480,000 in corporate wakaf contributions from five companies and agencies.
They include RM200,000 from Sipro Plastik Sdn Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (RM100,000), Ameraya Property Sdn Bhd (RM100,000), the Petaling Jaya City Council (RM50,000), and KDEB Waste Management (RM30,000).
After the presentation ceremony, Tengku Amir broke his fast with the public before performing the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih congregational prayers.
Earlier, upon arriving, the Raja Muda was received by the state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, as well as the state executive councillor for Rural Development, unity, and consumer affairs Dato' Rizam Ismail.
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Dato' Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Dato' Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Selangor Dato' Mufti Anhar Opir.
