Aidilfitri: PLUS expects 2.3m vehicles daily from Wednesday onwards

SUBANG, March 12 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad is expecting 2.3 million vehicles per day for six peak days starting on Wednesday (March 18) on its highway network in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

PLUS managing director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said the six peak days are from March 18 to March 20, and March 27 to March 29.

“The figure recorded an increase of more than 20 per cent using the PLUS highway network,” she said during a media conference at Menara PLUS today.

Also present were the Royal Malaysian Police's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali, and the Malaysian Highway Authority's deputy director-general (development) Nadzrol Fadzilah Ahmad.

Airina added that over 6,000 personnel were assigned to selected locations to ensure smooth highway travel, and improvements have been implemented at Rest and Service (R&R) areas, including 25 cabin toilets at toll plazas and selected side stops.

34 main locations along the highway would have SMART Lanes activated to ensure smooth travel.

She advised highway users to plan their journeys to their destinations using the MyPLUS-TTA digital itinerary for travel on the PLUS Highway and East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2).

"During the Chinese New Year festive season, the travel trend of users who followed the MyPLUS-TTA itinerary recommendations were able to enjoy smoother and shorter journeys, but only 29 per cent of highway users used the digital itinerary," Airina said.
