KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 — Traffic on most major highways was reported smooth this morning amid the Deepavali celebration, with slow-moving traffic at a few locations along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK).
A Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesman said that at 9.52am, traffic was moving slowly on the southbound PLUS route from Nilai towards Bandar Ainsdale due to increased vehicle volume.
On the KLK, a 3.1km traffic congestion was reported on the eastbound stretch from Bentong towards Karak.
“Traffic from Bentong to Karak on the KLK was affected by an accident, which blocked the right lane and resulted in a 3.1km traffic jam,” the spokesman said when contacted today.
He added that 32 Smart Lanes have been activated on major highways nationwide during the festive period to help ensure smoother traffic flow.
LLM advises highway users to plan their journeys, remain alert while driving, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
The public can obtain the latest traffic updates through the LLM hotline at 1800-88-7752, which operates from 7am to 10pm, as well as via its website and official social media channels.
