Vehicle burning: Cops open three investigation papers

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — The police have opened three investigation papers in connection with the malicious burning of vehicles and criminal threats in the Taman Kinrara residential area in Puchong yesterday and today.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the investigations were initiated after receiving two separate reports about incidents at the same location.

For the first incident, two investigation papers were opened under Section 427 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for mischief and criminal intimidation.

“For the second incident, an investigation paper has been opened under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire involving vehicles,” he said in a statement.

Shazeli added that the police are conducting detailed investigations from various angles to determine the motive behind the incidents and identify and track down those involved.

In this regard, he warned the public against speculation or provocative remarks about the incident that could affect racial harmony and public order.

“Strict action will be taken against any individual found to have violated the law. The public is urged to give the police space to complete the investigation process,” Shazeli said.

He also called on anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist by lodging a report at the nearest police station.

Earlier, videos circulating on social media showed three cars belonging to an individual known as Cikgu Chandra being set on fire, allegedly by a group of unidentified men.

Previously, the teacher’s house in Puchong was also reportedly attacked by a group that damaged the windows of his vehicles and residence.
