Hospital transport lifeline for Batang Kali resumes this year

SHAH ALAM, March 10 — The Batang Kali Care community aid programme will continue this year to help residents obtain hospital treatment, while also opening registration for new volunteers to expand services to patients in need.

Batang Kali state constituency coordinator Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said the initiative, introduced early in his tenure, is carried out in collaboration with the Selangor Community Health Volunteers (SUKA) Batang Kali.

He said the service provides transportation assistance for patients who face financial constraints or lack the means to attend hospital appointments.

“Batang Kali Care will operate up to three times a week to Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Selayang, provided notification is given at least two weeks in advance to the SUKA Batang Kali team,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that full operations of the service are scheduled to begin in April 2026, with priority given to patients in more critical conditions.

Earlier, the 2026 schedule began when SUKA Batang Kali coordinator Fathul Karib helped a resident, Azman Hassim, receive hospital treatment.

The 35-year-old is understood to have diabetes and has lost part of the sole of his foot due to a bacterial infection.

Azman also supports his family, including two children, while his eldest child holds an Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) learning disability card.

At the same time, Saifuddin said registration for Batang Kali Care volunteers will be opened to members of the public interested in contributing their time to help patients obtain treatment.

He said volunteers involved will receive between RM100 and RM150 for each service, subject to terms and conditions to be announced later.

He hopes more members of the community will join the initiative to help patients access treatment and strengthen the culture of volunteerism in the local community.
