SHAH ALAM, March 9 — Traffic congestion in Subang Bestari, a problem that has persisted for nearly three decades, is expected to be resolved as the Sungai Kedondong diversion project reaches its final design stage.
Kota Damansara state assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Kasim said the move is crucial to allow construction of a road linking Persiaran Atmosfera and Kwasa Land Damansara.
“The issue has been a longstanding legacy problem as it involves diverting Sungai Kedondong to make way for the road construction,” he told Media Selangor.
The project was initially slated for 1996 but was delayed due to technical and design constraints, he added.
Muhammad Izuan said discussions between developers and relevant agencies, including the Selangor Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), are now underway to finalise the river diversion design.
“This step is vital to bolster the implementation of the Sungai Kedondong diversion. Once completed, it will open the way for the planned road construction and help ease traffic congestion in the area,” he said.
He expressed hope that the project could begin this year, finally ending over 30 years of waiting for residents in Subang Bestari for a solution to the traffic woes.
